Configuring Key-based SSH

Assumption: Your server has the SSH up and running. Otherwise, you can check it using sudo systemctl status ssh.service

Step 1:

If this is your first time creating an ssh key then perform this step otherwise straight go into the next step. Remember if you already have a public and private key created in your client machine, the old keys will be overwritten. In your client machine:

ssh-keygen
# And, go through the options
# Next, copy the public key to the server
ssh-copy-id [email protected]
# For example: ssh-copy-id [email protected]
